Toney Alexander Chung (May 17th, 1956 – March 11th, 2023)

We are deeply saddened to share that Toney Alexander Chung, also known as Roy, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 11th, 2023 at the age of 66. His passing has left a void in the lives of his loved ones, and he will be greatly missed.

Born on May 17th, 1956 in Long Pond on the West Bank of Demerara, Guyana, Toney was the fourth of nine children born to John and Rampattie (Renee) Chung. Sadly, he was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Daniel. He is survived by his siblings Linda, Rudolph, Ronald, Brenda, Sandra, John, and Derick.

Toney was a kind and loving person who devoted much of his life to his family. He was married to his beloved wife Iona until her passing in September of 2021. Together, they raised their three daughters and son, Bernie, Marianna, Diane, and Paul.

Toney will always be remembered as a devoted and caring father, grandfather, and father-in-law. He is survived by his children Bernie, Marianna, Diane, and Paul, as well as his five granddaughters, Ashley, Sydney, Daniella, Abigail, and Angella, and sons-in-law Vijay and Arnold.

A celebration of Toney's life will be held on Friday, March 17th, 2023, at the Blair Mazzarella Funeral Home in Brooklyn. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made on his behalf to St. Jude’s Children's Hospital.

Rest in peace, Toney. You will be forever loved and remembered by all who knew you.
