I just happened to Google Shane and learned here of his illness and death. It is not mentioned in the obituary that Shane was also an actor. He performed in 3 versions of my adaptation of Carson McCullers' HEART IS A LONELY HUNTER - Once at Avalon Repertory Theate and twice at Theater for the New City. He also performed in my docu-drama, THE TRAIL OF TEARS. He was extremely creative and authentic, and especially lovable. I salute him and wish we'd been closer.

I never met Shane but I got an email from him when I started birding that was so encouraging and kind. Seemed like such a wonderful person from this article.
