This time of Valentine's weekend, we remember the sweetheart and mother Lorraine Anna Tarantino-Handal with each bated breath. Although Lorraine fell into a deep slumber for her soul to rest lightly with her beloved husband and family in heaven, the love lingers forever in many hearts. The zeal, charm and love that Lorraine and Albert carried could never be matched. We miss you!

Good Morning Denise,
I pray for peace, comfort, and that all be well with you and family at this time of loss.
I want to share briefly, how much your mother, Mrs. Handle meant to me and my family. To know someone with a big heart, able to show love and kindness to everyone that cross her path is a type of Christ. When you read about great women in the Bible, you can see Mrs. Handle's character.
Life may be different without Mother's presence and aroma that brought life and light to her family. However, assurance is Her spirit, and memory with always be with all.
May you and family continue on the legacy of your parents, and do the right thing by each other. The love that Mom and Dad had for each other is instilled in you and your brothers. Exhibit the love, support each other and let the grandchildren be able to see how great their grandparents were. Keep living as Mom did when Dad passed on. God will give strength and be a guiding light to you and family.
Pray continuously, stay connected, laugh a lot, have time to share memories, and stay well and healthy.
God Bless & Peace be unto all,
Reverend Maria Williams

Mrs. Handal or Lorraine as she asked me to address her in recent years was a vibrant, caring and strong woman. I came to know her when I became friends with Lawrence and we are still close today.
Lorraine taught me how to sew, swim and to seek various interests in life. Lorraine had a good heart and would seek justice where it was needed.
I will always remember the dinners at their home, the surprise party for Lawrence and the experiences she exposed all of us to in life.
I am grateful to have known you Lorraine. Your memory will live on. May you now be resting in peace. Love Sallie

Dearest Lorraine,
Because you knew I was always there for Lawrence, you took me in and made me a part of your family. We traveled together, spoke on the phone for hours and were good friends for over forty years. Your house was my second home.
I will always remember how beautiful you looked, how you kept yourself very attractive. You will live in my heart and memory. Love always, Beverly

Lorraine A. Handal born 8/26/1930 in Boundbrook, NJ grew up in Kensington with her younger brother Thomas Tarantino . Both attended St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic School. In high school, Lorraine developed an interest in fine art. She subsequently attended Pratt Institute of Fine Art in Bklyn to pursue a career in the arts. However, fate intervened, a friend, Genevieve Dabdoub introduced her to a someone at a party. Albert Jacob Handal just arrived from Palestine .They fell in love and the rest, as they say, is history. They had four children and Lorraine devoted all her creative energy to raising her family, exposing them to the arts, theatre, literature, and the diverse cultures and cuisine of New York. Last but not least, she introduced them to her beloved opera.
As the children got older, she joined the workforce, becoming a Law Librarian for the City of New York.Eventually, she would return to school, earning a Baccalaureate from the College of New Rochelle. Lorraine A. Handal was an inspiration to children throughout the neighborhood. She was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts and mentored students at Catholic Daughters of Mother Seton Counsel, and she was also involved with the NYC Board of ElecSons. She was a force to be reckoned with: outspoken, passionate, preternaturally sensitive and never dull. And the joy she imparted to others was returned tenfold. She had a good, rich life.
May she always be remembered.

Lorraine & Albert carried mystic and unconditional love for life and love for others. The cup of life brimmed over with fun times shared by the family..."Handal with care." Emotions, feelings, laughter and the magic tricks played out during these full lives. Taken from us too soon, we must overcome the grief of mortality. Live peacefully! Philosophy has it, likeness communes through eternity. Now, memories cherished living in our hearts. Love forever, faithful daughter Denise

I was fortunate to get to know more of Lorraine in the past 5 years. What an amazing lady she was: sharp, intelligent, kind, warm, and with many stories and wisdoms, even at her lat 80s!
Every-time when I visited, she always shared detailed, lovely events and experiences of her and her children. With strong character and believes, she never forgot to look her best with her hair perfectly style and well dressed.
May she rest in peace with her husband Albert!
With deepest sympathy.
