Obituary of Marie Joseph

Please share a memory of Marie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Madame Ovide Joseph née Marie Anne Jaboin was born March 30 1925 in the town of Côtes-de-Fer. Marie, living a strong 93 years, peacefully passed away on January 22, 2019.

Marie was one of two children born to Mesida Courtois and Raoul Jaboin. At a very young age, Marie exuberated confidence. She was a devoted daughter and loving sister. A loyal participant of the church, Marie was always in the first row, singing soprano in the choir.

Marie became the beloved wife of the late Ovide Joseph in 1947. Together in the town of Côtes-de-Fer, Marie and Ovide raised eight beautiful children together. Marie Rose, Elda, Marie Yolene, Anne Maryse, Schiller, Marie Bernadette, Mirtha and Betina. Marie proved herself the true matriarch she is as she supported her children through the loss of their father Ovide and siblings Schiller and Mirtha. Marie was the caretaker to her family members, which includes many of her 32 grandchildren, and countless other friends and family blessed to have known her.

Not only a loving wife and mother, Marie was a savvy business woman. She owned and managed a boutique selling various wholesale items from fabric to cooking supplies to colas. You name it she had it.

Marie Anne, Annette, Madame Ovide, a.k.a Grunny, will be remembered for her smart wit, her prayers, her funny antics, signature dance moves, memorable culinary skills but more importantly, for the love she shared with us. Marie is survived by 6 daughters, 32 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
