Obituary
Obituary of Terri Leibowitz
Please share a memory of Terri to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Terri Leibowitz was born March 4, 1941, in Brooklyn, NY. She was
the only child of Benjamin Marcus and Ann Frankel. She married
Arthur Leibowitz on January 24, 1960, and thereafter had two
sons – David and Gary. David is married to Maria Leibowitz, and
they gave Terri two wonderful grandchildren – Stefanie and
Michael.
Terri was an adventurous soul; one might even say that she was
fearless. While living in Englishtown, NJ, she was a substitute
teacher and later worked for Exxon, where she climbed the
gasoline tanks and learned to fight oil fires. If you asked her, she
would have said that being a substitute teacher was by far the
scarier occupation. She received a bachelor’s degree in science
at Brooklyn College, worked in market research, and in her late
50s, she went back to school to get a degree in Medical Records
Billing. Terri graduated near the top of the class. After graduation,
she formed a business with two of her classmates, including her
good friend Lois Halber.
Terri also loved to travel and explore. She traveled to England,
Japan, Greece, Peru, Alaska, and Egypt/Jordan. Besides travel,
another of her great loves was art. She attended the Arts Student
League and painted in oils and pastels.
Terri was, to put it mildly, strong-willed. You always knew where
you stood with her. Whether you wanted to hear it or not. But she
was fierce in her love for her family and anyone who got in the
way of their happiness learned not to mess with her.
Terri lived out her last ten or so years at The Norwegian Christian
Home and Health Center where she was loved by the staff who
took wonderful care of her in these final years.
