Born on March 21, 1943, in Brooklyn, NY, Carol was born to Madeline (née Ahrend) and Arthur Uddgren and raised by David and her “Mamma” Clara Bruce. She was a brilliant and determined woman, whose passion for education led her to earn a doctorate in Educational Psychology from the City University of New York, along with an MA from Fordham University, a MS from Saint John’s University and a BA from St. Francis College.
Carol's life was a testament to her unwavering commitment to education. As a professor at St. John’s University, the College of Staten Island, and for over two decades at Xaverian High School, she didn't just educate—she transformed lives. Her contributions were not confined to the classroom; she was also a published author and a respected academic, leaving an indelible mark on the educational landscape. She was the recipient of St. John’s prestigious Community Partnership Award, a recognition of her exemplary contributions to teacher preparation.
In 2005, Carol married Richard Trasborg, a devoted and loving husband who stood by her side for two decades. He survives her, cherishing the many memories they created together. Carol was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Marie Sutton (née Ahrend) Ann Jones, Thomas Bruce, Bernice O’Hara. Survived by her sister Mary Taintor.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication in her four children, Mary Palladino (Rich), Carolyn Dopman, Jeannie Dopman O’Neill (Dave), and James Dopman, and for her eleven adoring grandchildren, Brandon Palladino (Chelsea), Christopher Palladino, JT Palladino, Jenna Immitt, Lauren Immitt, Shannon O’Neill, Michaela O’Neill, Grace O’Neill, Bella Dopman, Sofia Dopman, and Luke Dopman.
