Dawn T Walker Obituary
Dawn T. Walker was born on April 3, 1958, in Brooklyn, New
York, to Lawrence C. Beatty and Hazel E. Beatty. She attended St.
Matthews Catholic School and John Dewey High School in Brooklyn.
After graduating 2 ½ years early from High School she attended the
College of Staten Island where she received her Associates in
Accounting. She had an amazing career at Verizon for 28 years,
retiring in 2010.
Dawn was a very vibrant spirit and always the life of the party.
She was outspoken and her smile and voice would light up every room
she entered into. Dawn loved to sew, which she learned from her
Mother, often making her own clothing in her younger years. Some of
her passions were playing the lotto and Pogo games. She often went to
Atlantic City and Las Vegas to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. The
most passionate thing she loved to do however was Sing. She could
bring a house down with her unique voice as it resonated and filled the
whole room! When Dawn sang a note everyone knew it was her
beautiful voice!
Dawn was a loving Wife, Mother, Sister, Cousin, Aunt and Friend;
known to others as “Mama Dawn” and loved by many.
She is survived by her Daughter, Dr. Kimberly J. Walker;
Brother, Stacy L. Beatty (Gayle) and Darryl K.
Beatty (Sonia); Brother-in-Law, Michael E. Walker; Sister-in-Law,
Karen E. Walker; Nephews, Jimmy Lee Allen, III, Jason Walker, Stacy
Beatty, Jr. (Amira), Marshall Beatty and Darryl Beatty, Jr.; Nieces,
Nicole M. Dickerson (Willie), Krystal K. Reed and Ashley M. Beatty;
and a host of cousins, great-nephews, great-nieces and friends.
Dawn will be greeted at the Gates of Heaven by her predeceased
Husband, Kevin A. Walker; Mother, Hazel E. Beatty; Father, Lawrence
C. Beatty; Grandmothers, Emma Tilghman and Myrle Haynes; Sister,
Tina M. Reed; and generations of ancestors.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in Dawn's name to the
Alzheimer's Association
