Joan Watson was born on May 6, 1935 in Brooklyn, NY, the second child of six children born to Percy Valentine Sr. and Ruth Valentine. She transitioned peacefully on October 17, 2022 after a brief illness. Joan graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1953 with honors after majoring in Hebrew, French and Spanish. She relocated to Tampa, FL where she married Sylvester Watson. On her return to New York City, she gave birth to her daughter Tracy. Later, Joan attended NYC Community College where she graduated with an Associate in Arts Degree. Joan had a creative nature. She loved to sew and make birthday corsages for her family and friends. She had may difficult challenges in her life and struggled hard to overcome them. Joan was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. To cherish her memory, Joan is survived by her daughter, Tracy Bland, her granddaughter Janaya Bland, and her great granddaughter Malia, her sisters Patricia Knox, Pamla B. Adams, Andrea Britton and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins. May her soul rest in peace. Done in profound sorrow, The Family
