Oliva Luib, MD was born in Cebu, Philippines and passed away on April 9, 2022, at the age of 92 in Brooklyn, New York. Dr. Luib was married to her late husband, Raymundo and is survived by her sons: Alan, Larry, Patrick, and Earl; her daughter in laws: Christine, Melissa, and Lissa; and her grandchildren: Courtney, Caitlin, Ryan, Maya, and Jackson. A caring and generous mother, Dr. Luib retired as a pediatric emergency room physician with Kings County Hospital Center. She also served in the United States Army Reserve from 1983 to 1995 as Lieutenant Colonel with 452nd Combat Support Hospital. She received a number of achievement medals for her military service and was recognized for her commitment to providing medical care to underserved populations by volunteering in medical missions each year. In lieu of flowers to the family, donations may be sent to Philippine Medical Association in America Foundation, a 501(c)(3) tax-deductible, non-profit corporation (EIN 13-3604272).
