Obituary of Roy Facey

Roy Facey was born on May 17, 1941, in Georgetown, Guyana, and departed this world on October 20, 2021. He was a resident of Lawrence Nursing Care Center, Arverne, New York. He was raised by his mother Gwenette Neblett née Facey (deceased) and his stepfather Edward Neblett (deceased). He was the eldest of six children born to his mother Gwenette. He attended and graduated from St. Phillips Anglican School. After graduating in 1959 he enlisted in the British Guiana Volunteer Force and served for approximately two years. He then worked for Bryanna Mattress Company for several years before being employed by the Soesdyke-Linden Highway Department as a Toll Clerk. In September 1970 he married Fanshawe Richmond, who bore him nine children. After many years of marriage they divorced. He is survived by his nine children and their spouses: Debra Isaacs (Kenneth), Ann-Marie Selby (Leonard), Brenton Facey, Sandra Facey, Roy Facey, Jr., Sharon Facey, Corwin Facey (Rovina), Trudy Facey, and Dexter Facey (Crystal); 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Roy is also survived by his former wife Fanshawe, his siblings and their spouses: Vibert Facey (Jeanette), Yvonne King (Desmond), Pamela Stewart-Gilkes (Anthony), and Donald Neblett. Roy was preceded in death by his sister Florine Joaquin and her husband Frank. He migrated to the United States of America in February 1982 with his family and settled in Brooklyn, New York. He enjoyed dancing and being with his family members and friends.
