Celebration Of Life Vs. Funerals

Most funeral services have a specific theme. The ceremony has a defined framework and includes customary eulogies, some music, and prayers. A funeral service's principal objective is to bring comfort to the deceased's family members. A traditional funeral ceremony, on the other part, does not serve this purpose, and most attendees respect tradition without giving it much thought.

On the other hand, some individuals prefer more practical funeral service options, and that is what a celebration of life ceremony can be. It's a unique service and we at Blair Mazzarella Funeral Home have seen that it provides considerably more comfort to family members than a traditional funeral ceremony.

The Differences Between A Celebration Of Life And A Traditional Funeral Service

A memorial service differs from a funeral in many ways; here are some examples:

  • The atmosphere during the gathering is more festive than depressing.
  • The objective of a celebration of life is to commemorate the departed and to share happy recollections of the person who has passed away.
  • It does not have to be held at a funeral home and may occur outside or indoors.
  • It's a straightforward process.
  • The event's procedure differs significantly from a traditional funeral.
  • The ashes of the dead may/may not be present.
  • There are no norms or formal processes to follow so that you can concentrate on your healing.
  • A celebration of life might be held immediately after a person's death or afterward.
  • A celebrant will lead the ceremony, and no religious representatives will be present.
  • A life celebration has no religious connotations.
  • This event has no set plan, so you may do anything you like

You can plan the celebration of life after discussions with other family members and then get some input from the funeral director. For more information about our customized funeral services or for help with preplanning your funeral, contact Blair Mazzarella Funeral Home.
