Obituary of Previlus Jacques
Please share a memory of Previlus to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Born in L'Azile (nan Moinson) Haiti on April 7th, 1941, Previlus Jacques began his journey through life. Previlus was the second oldest son of Louisemene Durogene and her husband Previlas Jacques. Previlus had 5 brothers and sisters, Farolus Jacques, Dieuveuille Jacques, Francoise Jacques Julien (R.I.P), Rosaide Jacques (R.I.P), and St. Thomas Jacques (R.I.P).
Previlus, after leaving home around the age of 19 with the help of Lucile Jacques (Wisler Jacques grandmother), he decided to move to Port-Au-Prince Haiti. He started working with Rivière Jacques one of the best Tailor in Haiti. Previlus enjoyed his job, but yearned to continue school. Jean Jacques, a lawyer (Solange, and Ginette Jacques Cine's father) helped him enroll in night school. From there he met Roger Jacques at "Mixte Du Sacre-Coeur" whom the school belonged to, alongside Jacques Martinez. Previlus Jacques immediately started working there. Years later he met his wife, Elvia Dorelus. They later on had 4 children, Reginald Jacques, Wilfrid Jacques, Immacula Jacques, and Daphnee Jacques.
With the help of his late brother St. Thomas Jacques, Previlus came to the United States on March 15, 1996 with his wife and children for a better life. He was a hard worker. He started his first job with the help of Gabriel Jacques (his best friend) at a seasoning factory. Since then he never stopped working. At the age of 74 he was still working and enjoyed doing so. Then in 2001, he was and still active working for Elmont Cemetery as a landscaper.
After going to Haiti on March 10th, 2016, Previlus got severely sick. On March 21th, 2016 we received news Previlus Jacques passed away. He leaves behind 7 grandchildren: Nasaiah Joseph, Immanie Jacques, Kaylah Jacques, Immaculee Nazaire, Isis Jacques, Iyanie Nazaire, and Abigail Jasmin. He was also known as "Komper" by many people.
Komper was a very loving husband and father. He was a very funny man in his own way. We will miss his delightful candor and will remember the wonderful times we had. We will miss the times he spent with us and his grandchildren. He will always have a special place in our hearts.
Best wishes in the afterlife
