Con profundo dolor, anunciamos el fallecimiento de Emma Luz Bermúdez Rodríguez, de 93 años en la Ciudad de Brooklyn, Nueva York el 16 de abril de 2026. Le sobreviven sus hermanos Jorge Emilio Bermúdez y Ruth Emilia Arbizu y sus queridos sobrinos y sobrinas.

Emma Luz, la hija de Isabel Rodríguez Beltrán y Emilio Bermúdez Pascuale y hermana de Jorge Emilio, Ruth Emilia, Gustavo Alejando y Efrain Isidro Bermúdez Andia, nació en Huancayo y fue ciudadana estadounidense y peruana, una mujer de ciencia y de fe que estudió Biología en Vanderbilt University y ganó su Maestría de Educación en San Marcos en Lima. Pasó su carrera enseñando ciencia en escuelas secundarias en Lima y en Nueva York.

Fue miembro de la comunidad de la Iglesia Metodista Evangélica en Perú y en Nueva York. Se dedicaba a la lectura continua, aficionada de la revistas Geografía Nacional y New York Magazine, con interés constante en la Arqueología Bíblica - siempre aprendiendo de nuestro origen y nuestra historia y nuestra relación con Dios. En cuanto a la gastronomía, se dedicaba a la galleta y la dulzura. Pasó parte de su vida viviendo con la familia de su cuñado Justo, y fue Tía Mama a los hijos Manuel, Emma, y Justo y sus otros sobrinos.

With great sadness we share the news of the passing of Emma Luz Bermúdez Rodríguez at 93 years of age in Brooklyn New York on the 16th of April 2026. She is survived by her brother Jorge Emilio Bermúdez and sister Ruth Emilia Arbizu and her beloved nieces and nephews and their children.

Emma Luz, daughter of Isabel Rodríguez Beltrán and Emilio Bermúdez Pascuale, the oldest of five siblings Jorge Emilio, Ruth Emilia, Gustavo Alejando and Efrain Isidro Bermúdez Andia, was born in Huancayo Peru, an American and Peruvian dual citizen, a woman of science and faith who studied Biology in Vanderbilt University and earned her Masters in Education in San Marcos in Lima. She spent her career teaching science in secondary schools in Lima and Brooklyn.

She was a lifelong member and congregant in the Evangelical Methodist denomination in Peru and in New York. She was an avid reader of National Geographic and New York magazine and had a life-long interest in Biblical Archeology, always wanting to learn more about where we came from, our history and our relationship with God. In. the world of gastronomy, Emma also had a lifelong interest in. She spent part of her life with the family of her sister and brother in law Justo and was a Beloved Tia Mama to their children Manuel, Emma and Justo and her other nieces and nephews.
