In celebration of a spirited and generous life lived,
we honor the memory of Ivy Thompson.
Born in Orange District, St. James, Jamaica, West Indies on December 11, 1923 to the late Rosella Bowen & Theodore Nelson. Ivy passed away on January 30, 2026 in Brooklyn, NY, United States; where she spent most of her 102 years.
She loved beautiful things, taking great pleasure in shopping and adding a touch of elegance to her surroundings. Ivy carried music in her spirit. She loved to dance, and moved with a natural rhythm and lightness; a reflection of the youthful joy she carried throughout her long life.
Ivy was a woman who cherished her health and had a profound love for food — a love she expressed through her culinary prowess. She was a connoisseur of life, savoring every moment and every bite with equal delight.
Ivy was a woman of unwavering faith and held the honor of being the longest living member of the Baptist Church of the Redeemer.
Her legacy of love and kindness echoes in the hearts of a host of nieces, nephews, grand, great-grand & great great-grand nieces and nephews she leaves behind.
May Her Soul Rest In Eternal Peace.
