Obituary of Euklin Benjamin Wright
Please share a memory of Euklin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Euklin Benjamin Wright, a proud and honorable man, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, at the age of 77.
He was born on October 11, 1947, in Clonmel, St. Mary, Jamaica, to Cleveland Wright and Floris Johnson. After the passing of his father when he was just four years old, Euklin was lovingly raised by his aunt, Hilda and her husband. A graduate of Pear Tree Grove High School in St. Mary, Euklin excelled in academics, especially mathematics, memory recall, and penmanship. His superb handwriting and sharp mind became part of his lifelong identity. At the age of 19, he joined the Jamaica Constabulary Force, where he served with distinction for over 40 years until his retirement at age 60. He valued order, discipline, and doing things “by the book,” principles that guided his career and life. In 1995, Euklin married his life partner, Elethia Nembhard, and together they shared a life marked by love, laughter, and family. He later migrated to the United States in 2017, continuing to enjoy the things that brought him joy: cricket, dominoes, horse racing, puzzles, politics, and current events. He had a gift for humor, loved to joke, and his booming voice and infectious laugh filled every room he entered. He was known for always carrying a pen in his shirt pocket—never wearing a shirt without one—and for his unique talent of spelling words backward with ease.
Beyond his accomplishments, Euklin will be remembered as a meticulous, easy-going man, who never let stress take hold. His memory for dates and events amazed his family and friends, and his love for storytelling, conversation, and companionship left an impression on all who knew him. Euklin is survived by his beloved wife, Elethia, children: Nicola, Euklin, Sophia, Gareth, Nadine, Craig, Miralee, Shelly, Conrod, Taniesha, and Jenieve; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren; his sister, Enid; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law and cherished friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Newton, and daughter, Faith. His life was one of service, dignity, and joy. Though he has departed this life, his
legacy of honor, laughter, and love will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
