Obituary of Walter Mcbride
Please share a memory of Walter to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mr. Walter McBride was born on August 1, 1937, in Montgomery, Alabama, to the union of the late Emmon and Savannah McBride. He was blessed with a loving upbringing that instilled in him the values of faith, family, and community. He received his education through the Montgomery Public School District, where he formed lasting bonds and became a cherished member of his community.
At an early age, Walter accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, laying a strong foundation for a life rooted in faith and devotion. His faith was firmly established at Morning Star Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama, where he later entered into holy matrimony with Mary McBride in 1957. Their union was blessed with one daughter, Dorothy McBride.
In the late 1970s, Walter and his family relocated to Elmont, New York, where they built a loving home centered on faith, fellowship, and family. There, the McBride family became devoted members of Emmanuel Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Dr. H. David Parker. Walter later united with South Hempstead Baptist Church in Hempstead, New York, under the spiritual leadership of Pastor Philip McDowell, where he continued his service to the Lord until his health began to decline. His steadfast commitment to the church reflected the depth of his character and the strength of his relationship with the Lord.
Walter was a skilled and dedicated auto mechanic who took great pride in his craft. His passion for repairing cars was more than a profession—it was a calling that he pursued with excellence and faithfulness. Known for his generous spirit, Walter had a heart for helping others. He was always willing to lend a hand, often giving his last dollar just to bring a smile to someone else’s face.
Blessed with a joyful and lighthearted nature, Walter loved to laugh and share jokes. His warm, cheerful spirit left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him. In addition to his mechanical talents, Walter had a deep love for numbers, which brought him quiet joy throughout his life.
On the morning of Sunday, May 4, 2025, Walter McBride peacefully went home to be with the Lord. Walter was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary McBride, and their cherished daughter, Dorothy McBride, both of whom he held dear in heart and memory.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted grandchildren: Howard McBride, Sherrif McBride, Terrence McBride, Krystal Washington, Lesean Washington, and Jamel Washington, as well as a host of great-grandchildren, extended family members, and dear friends.
Walter McBride will be truly missed and forever remembered for his kindness, unwavering devotion, and deep love for his family. His legacy of faith, service, and joy will continue to inspire all who knew him.
