Obituary of Miguel A Torres
Please share a memory of Miguel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Miguel Angel Torres, also known as “Angie” to his family and friends, was born on December 7, 1964 to Ana Lydia Roman and Pedro Torres. Both parents were born in Puerto Rico. His mother was born in Aguadilla and his father in San German. Angie’s parents met in Brooklyn, NY in the mid 50’s where Angie was raised along with seven siblings.
He is survived by his devoted mother, Ana Lydia Roman, his four sisters (Diana, Ara, Rosaura and Beatriz) his loving brother Javier and joins in rest his beloved brothers Pedro (2024) and Carlos (2001). He also had another brother from his mother’s side, Jose Arnaldo Morell, who preceded him in death in 2003. He also leaves behind many nephews, nieces, and their spouses, great-nephews, great-nieces, and soon- to-arrive great niece or great nephew, uncles, aunts, cousins, godchildren, sisters-in-law, extended family members and his loyal feline companion, Goldie.
Angie was a man of great style—always dressed to impress. Always carrying himself with grace and confidence. He had an eye for quality, a deep appreciation for the finer things, and a way of making elegance look effortless. It wasn’t just in the way he lived—he had taste, he had class and a quiet sophistication that was uniquely his.
Then there was the way he danced. Angie wasn’t just a good dancer; he was an incredible salsa dancer. When the music started, he came alive, moving with rhythm, passion and a natural flair that left everyone in awe. Whether on the dance floor or in life, he had a way of making every step look effortless, turning even the ordinary into something special.
Angie had an incredible eye for decorating, whether it was the Christmas tree, Mom’s cherished holiday village, or beautifully wrapped gifts for the holidays and special occasions. He had a natural talent for bringing things together for every season, from stunning dining room table settings to festive decorations, always adding his special touch. Everything he did, he did to perfection. Beyond his artistic vision, he had a deep passion for cooking. His lasagna, chicken marsala, banana pudding, and tostones with his famous dipping sauce, and his Christmas coquito were made with love and enjoyed by all who were lucky enough to taste them. The holidays were especially magical with his Christmas coquito, a tradition that will be forever cherished. His creativity, attention to detail, and love for family shone through in everything he did.
He was deeply spiritual, drawing inspiration from Chinese Feng Shui meditation and the traditions from the Taino people. He found wisdom in the words of Leo Buscaglia, whose quotes he often shared as reminders of love and connection. Music was another source of joy, and his taste was as eclectic as his spirit, ranging from all genres to the angelic voice of Andrea Bocelli.
Brooklyn was his heart and soul. He found beauty in the Brooklyn Promenade, admired the majesty of the Brooklyn Bridge and cherished the charm of Brooklyn Heights. No trip to the borough was complete without stopping for a slice of Junior’s Cheesecake or visiting his favorite bakeries for the best baked goods in town. A true city lover, he was drawn to the energy of Broadway, never missing a chance to see a great show. He had an uncanny ability to discover the best mom-and-pop spots—hidden gems only he knew-yet he also appreciated the elegance of fine dining at high end restaurants.
Then, there was his comedic side—one that lit up every room. He had a gift for creating
laughter with his made-up characters including Muhammad, Papo, Min, Church Lady and Angel. His infectious laugh, quick wit, and sharp comebacks made every moment with him unforgettable. He had a way of making people feel special, touching countless lives with his warmth, humor and that unforgettable smile. Whether through his artistry, or his passion for life, and his love for his family, he brought joy to those around him, he left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His life, his laughter and his love will be cherished forever. He may have been taken from us too soon, but it could never take the memories. We honor him by not mourning what we lost, but by celebrating the incredible person he was and the joy he brought to our lives.
